The food and wine traditions of the Euganean hills are known for their authenticity. The origins of the local cuisine are closely linked to the rural culture, showing its importance in the delicious cold cuts, wonderful soups, home-made pasta and tasty grilled meat. With the arrival of spring, the Euganean hills offer a great variety of wild herbs, used widely in the regional cuisine.
Strictly native products and a feather in the territory's cap are honey, made by beekeepers of the Euganean hills with ancient techniques, olive oil, coming from four age-old olive types, "Rasara", "Marzemina", "Rondella" and "Matosso", and the cured Montagnata D.O.P. ham, whose trademark is guaranteed by the Consortium of Veneto Berico-Euganean ham in Montagnana.
The Euganean Hills also offer a varied production of wines. In particular, the Wine Road of the Euganean Hills connects over 40 wine companies offering guided tours in the vineyards with wine tastings. The D.O.C. Euganean hills Wine Consortium promotes and protects its wine so the consumer can drink wines offering the distinctive taste, aroma and physical characteristics that only the Euganean Hills' soil can produce.
